Our Mission

“Geo for All” is the Open Source Geospatial Foundation’s Committee for Educational outreach. We work in close collaboration with ICA, ISPRS, UN-GIS, AGILE, UCGIS, IGU and other partners worldwide in our mission for making geospatial education and opportunities accessible to all.

Our Core Belief

Knowledge is a public good

Central to the “Geo for All” mission is the belief that knowledge is a public good and Open Principles in Education will provide great opportunities for everyone.

Though the members of our community hail from many different backgrounds, we all seek to:

Eliminate the digital divide in geospatial education
Empower all people as full citizens in the digital age
Build Open Knowledge for the benefit of society and future generations

The Geo for All initiative has established a worldwide network of 100+ Open Source Geospatial Labs at universities and research institutions. These labs provide:

Teaching materials, curricula, and workshops using open source geospatial software

Research

Collaborative research projects and open data initiatives

Outreach

Community engagement and public awareness programs

Contributing to open source projects and creating new tools
